Perception of the World through the Prism of Language

On March 22-24, 2018, the 10th International Competition of Students Creative Projects in Foreign Languages was held in the “International University “MITSO” in Minsk on the theme: “Linguistic diversity: the perception of the world through the prism of language”.

For this contest the Academy presented 2 projects – in English and in German. The project ” Language is the history of the people. Language is the way of civilization and culture” was performed by: the first year students: V. Yatusevich (group 1, FVM), V. Tolkun (group 15, FVM), and a second – year student N. Lewandowskaya (22 group FVM, ) – scientific supervisor of the project A. I. Kartunova, head of the Department of Foreign Languages.

In the project in German language “the Limits of my Language Mean the Limits of my World” was made by: D. Sapronova (1 -year, FVM, group 16), and U. Fedorova (1- year, FVM, group 16) – scientific supervisor of the project Yurkiewicz A. T, a senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages.

In their projects, students spoke about the importance of languages in people’s lives, focused on the fact that language is the culture and history of the nation. Using multimedia presentations, videos, acting, the students showed how the Academy of Veterinary Medicine celebrated the International Mother Language Day. In our world, there are many barriers for communication between people, and the submitted projects confirmed the need to preserve the uniqueness of national languages, to strengthen awareness in the linguistic and cultural traditions.
