Opening of the Museum of Animal Anatomy
The Museum of Animal Anatomy was inaugurated on September 1. The museum «moved» from the anatomical building to a new spacious room, located in the teaching and laboratory building on the back side of the main entrance. The increase in the area of the museum almost tripled allowed not only to place old exhibits, but also to complement it with new ones. The museum exhibits numerous skeletons of wild, domestic and exotic animals, stuffed mammals and birds, as well as organs of animals of various species.
At the opening ceremony, the rector of the Academy Gavrichenko N.I. highly appreciated the work done by the department staff and students of the Academy. He expressed his readiness to further expand the museum by a section devoted to the history of veterinary medicine and zootechnics.
The former head of the Department of Animal Anatomy Matsinovich A.A., the oldest employee of the Department, briefly presented the history of the creation of the Museum and its filling with exhibits during his postgraduate studies, work and head of the Department. He wished good luck to the department staff and students in further work on the manufacture of anatomical preparations.
Head of the department Lyakh A.L. noted the merits of workers of the construction group, electricians, plumbers, carpenters in the preparation of the room for the exhibition of the museum.
Students of the Academy made an invaluable contribution to the creation of the museum. On their shoulders exhibits of the old museum «moved» into a new spacious room. They created new skeletons, scarecrows and other anatomical preparations.
Students Shcherbovich S.M. (5th year FVM), Yurk V.A. (3rd year FVM), Grachev I.A. (2nd year FVM), Konovalov E.P. (2nd year FVM), Dubovaya P.N. (2nd year VFM), Vishnyak G.O. (4th year FVM), Sazanovich M.A. (5th year FVM), Veselski E.S. (graduated in 2023), Ivanovich I.S. (graduated in 2021) made a particular contribution.
Special thanks to our famous guide, who also invested his soul and work in the creation of a new look of the museum – the 5th year student FVM Demukh D.A.
The opening of the museum was timed by an exhibition from a private collection of feathers and bird skins of a second-year student FVM Dubovaya P.N.
It is very nice that the opening of the museum was attended by teachers and employees of the Academy, students. They highly appreciated the quality of the work done. It is a pleasure that on this significant day the museum was visited by guests of the Academy, among whom were the representative of the president of the Vitebsk region Brylo I.V., director of the State Committee «Vitebsk» and the festival «Slavic Bazaar» Lapitsky G.A.
The Department of Animal Anatomy thanks every student and employee who by deed or wise advice helped to implement a grand project. Let our museum become a cultural and educational center in the field of animal knowledge in Vitebsk for each of its residents and guests. Let our museum become another Vitebsk tourist attraction!
